Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick and his wife, two-time Emmy award winner Sarah Jessica Parker, are making their shared Broadway stage debut together for the first time in over 20 years. Broderick and Parker will be headlining the classic comedy Plaza Suite, by legendary playwright and four-time Tony winner Neil Simon, playing three different couples in one famous hotel room.
Plaza Suite is a portrait of three couples (each played by Broderick and Parker) successively occupying a suite at the Plaza Hotel. Karen and Sam are a long-married pair whose relationship may be headed for an early checkout. Muriel and Jesse are former high school sweethearts who seem destined for an extended stay. And Norma and Roy are mother and father of the bride, ready to celebrate their daughter’s nuptials. Tony winner John Benjamin Hickey will direct the highly anticipated production scheduled to begin previews on March 13 and set to open at the Hudson Theatre on April 13.
Newly announced cast members include Danny Bolero (In the Heights) as the Waiter, Molly Ranson (Bad Jews) as Jean McCormick/Mimsey Hubley and Eric Wiegand (Pop Punk High) as The Bellhop/Borden Eisler.
In advance of the upcoming Broadway run, the revival will play an out-of-town engagement at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre (where the original production began) from February 5-22.
