London’s West End theatre district to continue suspension through till August 2

With the official death toll rising to 40465 in the UK as of 5pm on Friday 5th June the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) has once again revised the return date for London’s famous West End Theatre district to August 2.

With the total number of positive coronavirus cases set to reach 300,000 the original April 26 suspension date was rescheduled for June 28 and has now been extended through till August 2 with no official return date announced.

Across the Atlantic the virus pandemic has forced the closure of New York’s Broadway theatre district and has caused the cancellation of the 2020 Olivier Awards ceremony as well as the postponement of the 2020 Tony Awards.
