Lead Casting Announced for UK Premiere of The Devil Wears Prada Musical

Performances Begin at Theatre Royal Plymouth Next Month Ahead of West End Transfer in October

The highly anticipated UK premiere of The Devil Wears Prada musical has revealed further lead casting details. The musical, featuring a score by Elton John (Billy Elliot) and Shaina Taub (Suffs), a book by Kate Wetherhead (Burlesque the Musical), and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), is set to captivate audiences with its star-studded lineup.

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada follows the journey of Andy, a journalist who lands a job at a prestigious fashion magazine, leading to unexpected and transformative experiences.

Joining the previously announced Vanessa Williams as the formidable Miranda Priestly and Matt Henry as Nigel (originally played by Stanley Tucci in the film) are Georgie Buckland (Shrek the Musical) as Andy and Amy Di Bartolomeo (Six) as Emily. These roles were famously portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt in the film adaptation.

The musical will debut at Theatre Royal Plymouth with a preliminary run from 6 July to 17 August 2024. Following this, it will transfer to the West End, opening at the Dominion Theatre on 24 October. A special gala event, set for 1 December, will raise funds for World Aids Day and the Elton John Aids Foundation.

The production boasts a creative team that includes set design by Tim Hatley (Back to the Future), costume design by Gregg Barnes (Legally Blonde), lighting design by Bruno Poet (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical), sound design by Gareth Owen (& Juliet), and casting by Jill Green.

With such a talented ensemble and creative team, The Devil Wears Prada musical promises to be a sensational addition to the UK theatre scene.
