Keanu Reeves to Make Broadway Debut in ‘Waiting for Godot’ in Fall 2025

Keanu Reeves is set to make his highly anticipated Broadway debut in the iconic play ‘Waiting for Godot.’ The revival of Samuel Beckett’s masterpiece will hit Broadway in the fall of 2025, with Reeves taking on the role of Estragon. He will be joined by his longtime friend and co-star from ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,’ Alex Winter, who will play Vladimir.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, known for his minimalist and powerful revival productions, this staging of ‘Waiting for Godot’ promises to be a significant theatrical event. Lloyd has previously directed acclaimed productions such as ‘Betrayal’ with Tom Hiddleston, ‘A Doll’s House’ starring Jessica Chastain, and ‘Sunset Boulevard,’ which will transfer to Broadway this fall with Nicole Scherzinger.

Reeves, a beloved star known for his roles in the ‘John Wick’ series, ‘The Matrix’ films, ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ ‘Something’s Gotta Give,’ and ‘Parenthood,’ will bring his versatile talent to the Broadway stage. His co-star, Alex Winter, recently wrapped production on ‘Adulthood,’ a film he directed and starred in alongside Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario. Winter has also directed notable documentaries such as ‘The YouTube Effect,’ ‘Zappa,’ ‘Showbiz Kids,’ and ‘The Panama Papers.’

The exact theatre for the revival has not yet been announced, but it will be staged in one of the Ambassador Theatre Group’s seven theatres. ‘Waiting for Godot’ has graced Broadway four times, with the most recent production featuring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in 2013-14.

Jamie Lloyd expressed his excitement about the project, stating, ‘It is a real honor to be collaborating with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett’s sublime masterpiece — one of the greatest plays of all time.’

Reeves and Winter shared their enthusiasm, saying, ‘We’re incredibly excited to be on stage together and work with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays.’

‘Waiting for Godot’ is produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company, ATG Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Live, and Gavin Kalin Productions. This highly anticipated production is sure to be a highlight of the Broadway season, bringing together a stellar cast and crew to breathe new life into Beckett’s timeless play.
