Friends! The Musical Parody to Launch UK and Ireland Tour in 2025
A new production of Friends! The Musical Parody is set to premiere at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester on 14 July 2025, before embarking on an extensive UK and Ireland tour that will run until May 2026. The show, which is directed by Michael Gyngell (The Full Monty), brings a hilarious take on the beloved TV sitcom Friends, following its successful runs in New York and Las Vegas.
Fans of the iconic show will be treated to a comedic adaptation that revisits many memorable moments from all ten seasons, featuring the familiar characters as they navigate life, love, and work in 1990s Manhattan. With an original score and humorous lyrics, the musical will explore some of Friends’ most iconic scenes. The show is recommended for audiences aged 13 and up, promising a night of fun for both longtime fans and newcomers.
The creative team for this parody includes Bob and Tobly McSmith, who wrote the book and lyrics, with music by Assaf Gleizner and set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter. Full casting for the production is yet to be announced.
Producer Mark Goucher expressed excitement for the show, stating: “It is great to be back supporting the Barn Theatre. We are looking forward to working with Iwan [Lewis] and his team to create this brand-new production, which will then tour the UK and Ireland.”
Iwan Lewis, chief executive and artistic director of the Barn Theatre, added: “As part of our 2025 strategy to attract new audiences, this show promises a night full of laughs and fun. Could we be any more excited for next summer?”
The tour will kick off in Cirencester (14 July to 23 August 2025), with confirmed stops including Nottingham Theatre Royal, Sunderland Empire, York Grand Opera House, and Dublin’s Bord Gáis Theatre. More venues and dates are expected to be announced soon.
Tickets for the Cirencester premiere go on sale to Barn Friends members on 4 November 2024, with general sales starting on 11 November 2024.
