New York, NY — Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne is set to make her highly anticipated return to Broadway, reprising her role as Roxie Hart in the iconic musical Chicago. After her initial run was cut short in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jayne will take the stage for a limited three-week engagement from January 20 to February 9, 2025, at the Ambassador Theater in New York City.
Jayne, 53, first dazzled audiences in January 2020, making her Broadway debut in the role of the fame-hungry, scheming Roxie Hart. Her initial run received critical acclaim before the pandemic abruptly halted performances. Reflecting on the premature end to her Broadway stint, Jayne expressed gratitude and hope, sharing on Instagram, ‘I leave NYC feeling like my mission is incomplete but I will treasure this time always.’
Now, she’s ready to finish what she started.
A versatile performer, Jayne—whose real name is Erika Girardi—has built an impressive career spanning music, television, and literature. Known for her nine No. 1 hits on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, including ‘Pretty Mess’ and ‘PAINKILLR,’ Jayne has also graced the small screen as a competitor on Dancing with the Stars and an actress on The Young and The Restless. Her memoir, Pretty Mess, became a New York Times bestseller.
Set in the Jazz Age, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two women who turn their criminal infamy into showbiz success. With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, and music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the musical features timeless hits like ‘All That Jazz,’ ‘The Cell Block Tango,’ and ‘Razzle Dazzle.’
Originally premiering in 1975, Chicago became a smash hit following its 1996 revival, which won six Tony Awards, including Best Revival. It is now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. The story also inspired a star-studded 2002 film adaptation that won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Erika Jayne isn’t the first Bravo star to step into the world of Chicago. Fellow RHOBH alum Lisa Rinna took on the role of Roxie in 2007, while Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix played the same part earlier this year. Additionally, Real Housewives of Atlanta stars Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes have both portrayed Matron ‘Mama’ Morton on stage.
Fans and theatergoers alike are eagerly anticipating Jayne’s return to Broadway. With her signature flair and larger-than-life persona, she’s sure to bring her unique energy back to Roxie Hart.
