‘Death Becomes Her’ Musical Announces Complete Broadway Cast

The highly anticipated Broadway-bound musical Death Becomes Her, starring Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, Christopher Sieber, and Michelle Williams, has announced its full ensemble cast. The stage adaptation of the 1992 film will begin previews on Wednesday, October 23, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, with the official opening night set for Thursday, November 21.

Joining the previously announced stars are ensemble members Marija Abney, Lauren Celentano, Sarita Colon, Kaleigh Cronin, Natalie Charle Ellis, Taurean Everett, Michael Graceffa, Neil Haskell, Kolton Krouse, Josh Lamon, Sarah Meahl, Ximone Rose, Sir Brock Warren, Bud Weber, Ryan Worsing, and Warren Yang. Swings include Kyle Brown, Lakota Knuckle, Johanna Moise, and Amy Quanbeck. The full casting announcement was made today by producer Universal Theatrical Group.

Death Becomes Her is directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, with a book by Marco Pennette and an original score by Julia Mattison & Noel Carey.

The official synopsis reads: “Madeline Ashton (Hilty) is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp (Simard) is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies… until Madeline steals Helen’s fiancé (Sieber). As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn (Williams), a mysterious woman with a secret that’s to die for. After one sip of Viola’s magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored… and a grudge to last eternity.”

The creative team for Death Becomes Her includes scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Justin Townsend, sound design by Peter Hylenski, hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe, makeup design by Joe Dulude II, fight direction by Thomas Schall, music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, dance and incidental music arrangements by Sam Davis, music direction by Ben Cohn, and casting by Tara Rubin Casting.

The musical is produced by Universal Theatrical Group (UTG), overseen by Jimmy Horowitz (Chairman of Business Affairs and Operations, NBCUniversal) and led by Lowe Cunningham (Vice President of Creative Development and Production, Universal Theatrical Group). Marcia Goldberg serves as Executive Producer. The musical is based on the Universal Pictures 1992 film written by David Koepp and Martin Donovan, and directed by Robert Zemeckis.
