Crossroads Live Reflects on a Blockbuster 2024 and Teases Exciting Projects for 2025

Global theatre powerhouse Crossroads Live has unveiled its 2024 annual report, showcasing a year of remarkable achievements and hinting at an exciting future. With production offices in London, North America, and Australia, the company continues to lead the way in global theatre, presenting beloved classics and fostering new works for audiences worldwide.

Over the past year, Crossroads Live delivered 39 productions and 23 pantomimes, totaling more than 800 weeks of theatre and selling a staggering 4.5 million tickets. The company reported gross revenues exceeding £260 million, solidifying its position as a commercial juggernaut in live entertainment.

In the UK, Crossroads Live celebrated successful West End co-productions of Mean Girls and Hello, Dolly!, both of which resonated with audiences and critics alike. Touring productions of Magic Mike Live, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang brought Broadway and West End favorites to cities across the country. Meanwhile, Crossroads Pantomimes dominated the holiday season with 23 productions, including Robin Hood at the Palladium, which set a record as the fastest-selling pantomime in its nine-year history.

In the United States, Crossroads Live presented blockbuster national tours of Annie, My Fair Lady, Pretty Woman, Dear Evan Hansen, and TINA – The Tina Turner Musical. Seasonal favorites like Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical returned, while Whoopi Goldberg made headlines by joining the Annie tour at Madison Square Garden. Broadway saw the return of Elf: The Musical, a crowd-pleasing holiday hit.

Australia was a standout market for the company, with a record-breaking production of Wicked joining critically acclaimed runs of Chicago and Grease. The Australian premieres of Sister Act and Back to the Future also marked significant milestones. Jesus Christ Superstar returned to Australian stages for the first time since 1972, showcasing Crossroads Live’s dedication to reviving iconic works.

In China, the company expanded its influence with simultaneous performances of Chicago and The Phantom of the Operain Shenzhen. Plans for 2025 include additional productions of Cats and seven new musicals, further cementing Crossroads Live’s presence in the burgeoning Asian market.

Beyond its extensive roster of classic musicals, Crossroads Live has supported new and innovative works. In 2024, My Best Friend’s Wedding premiered in Maine, while Beaches debuted in Calgary. The UK saw the debut of Babies, a coming-of-age musical by Jack Godfrey and Martha Geelan, at The Other Palace, signaling the company’s commitment to nurturing fresh talent and original stories.

As Crossroads Live looks ahead to 2025, its CEO David Ian expressed optimism about the future of theatre, highlighting the company’s focus on bringing cherished classics and new titles to audiences around the globe. The upcoming year promises a stellar lineup, including the 40th-anniversary tour of Cats, Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, and expanded international runs of Back to the Future: The Musical.
