Broadway’s Coolest New Cast Members: Jon Jon and Isa Briones Hit Hadestown Together

Big news for Broadway fans! The Briones family is about to make history in the world of theater. Jon Jon Briones and his daughter Isa Briones are teaming up to bring some fresh energy to the cast of Hadestown on Broadway, starting March 19. This dynamic duo isn’t just family; they’re the new faces of Hermes and Eurydice at the Walter Kerr Theatre, stepping in for Lillias White and Lola Tung, who will be taking their final bows on March 17.

Jon Jon, a seasoned actor known for his standout role as the Engineer in the 2017 revival of Miss Saigon (where he shared the stage with Hadestown’s original star Eva Noblezada), is no stranger to the spotlight. His talents have also shone through on the small screen in Ryan Murphy’s Ratched and Class of ’09. Meanwhile, Isa is set to make her Broadway debut, bringing with her the experience of the Angelica tour of Hamilton and her roles in Star Trek: Picard and Goosebumps. Talk about a power-packed resume!

The Briones are joining an already stellar cast, including Jordan Fisher belting it out as Orpheus, Grammy Award winner Ani DiFranco as Persephone, and Phillip Boykin bringing the thunder as Hades. The ensemble is rounded out by the talented trio of Belén Moyano, Kay Trinidad, and Brit West as the Fates, with a chorus of Workers that’ll make you want to quit your day job and join them on stage.

Hadestown, the little musical that could, has swept the Tony Awards, snagging eight wins in 2019, including Best Musical. It’s a modern twist on the ancient tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, with a soundtrack and book by Anaïs Mitchell that earned its fair share of accolades, and direction by Rachel Chavkin that’s nothing short of genius.

So, if you’re in the mood for a night out on Broadway that promises top-notch performances (and maybe a little family magic), Hadestown with the Briones duo is where it’s at. Let’s see how this father-daughter team lights up the stage and brings a fresh vibe to this beloved show. Broadway, get ready – the Briones are coming!
