BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA - Oct 19, 2017: Culture Club are an English pop group that formed in London in 1981. The band comprises Boy George
Guess who’s coming back to light up the Broadway stage? It’s none other than Boy George!
It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Boy George dazzle us live – you’ve got to cast your mind back to his 2003 musical ‘Taboo’ for that. But he’s no stranger to bops that get stuck in your head, with classics like ‘Karma Chameleon’ and ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me’ up his sleeve.
Now, he’s stepping into Harold Zidler’s shoes in the electrifying ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical.’ If you’re in the loop, you know Zidler is the guy who runs the show at the infamous Moulin Rouge. It’s where all the drama unfolds and everyone’s chasing after Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love – and according to the critics, it’s a total feast for the senses.
Tituss Burgess is the current master of ceremonies till December 17th, 2023, then Eric Anderson takes the baton until February 4th, 2024. After that, it’s Boy George’s turn to sparkle.
Under the direction of Alex Timbers, with John Logan’s words, Sonya Tayeh’s choreography, and Justin Levine’s musical mastery, this show’s got enough Tonys to make it Broadway royalty. And remember, it’s all spun from Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic gem. So, ready to be swept off your feet? Get set for a night with Boy George that you won’t forget!
