The 1985 cult classic movie Back To The Future is set to make its West End debut at London’s Adelphi Theatre on May 14 2021. The new musical made its world premiere at the Manchester Opera House earlier this year.
The musical will feature music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard and a book by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale.
The production will feature original music as well as hits from the original film. Originally slated for a 2015 West End premiere, the show hit a number of hurdles including ‘creative differences’ between Director Jamie Lloyd and Zemeckis.
Olly Dobson will star as Michael J Fox‘s character Marty McFly and Tony winner Roger Bart as Christopher Lloyd‘s character Doc Brown. Rosanna Hyland will play Lorraine Baines, Hugh Coles as George McFly, Cedric Neal as Goldie Wilson, Courtney-Mae Briggs as Jennifer Parker and Aidan Cutler as Biff Tannen.
The musical is based on the original film, from the trilogy, which was a worldwide smash hit generating just under $500 million Australian dollars worldwide after its 1985 debut.
