Andrew Scott to Reprise Olivier-Winning Vanya Off-Broadway in 2025

Andrew Scott will bring his celebrated performance in Vanya, Simon Stephens’ solo adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, Off-Broadway in 2025. Following a successful run in London’s West End in 2023, where the production won the 2024 Olivier Award for Best Revival, Vanya is set for an eight-week limited engagement at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Previews will start on March 11, 2025, with the official opening night scheduled for March 18.

In this adaptation, Scott takes on every role in Chekhov’s tale of a family burdened by secrets, unrequited love, and internal conflicts surrounding their inherited estate. His portrayal earned widespread acclaim and an Olivier nomination, making this highly anticipated New York transfer a must-see event for theatre fans.

The creative team remains the same from the London production, with Sam Yates returning as director. Rosanna Vize serves as the designer, alongside lighting designer James Farncombe, sound designer Dan Balfour, video designer Jack Phelan, movement director Michela Meazza, composer Kelly Moran, and costume designer Natalie Pryce.

The production is produced by Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Kater Gordon, following their successful collaboration in London. Tickets will go on sale on September 27 at noon ET through TodayTix, with general sales beginning on September 30. For more details, visit VanyaOnStage.com.

Vanya made its debut in London’s West End, where it was praised for its innovative approach to Chekhov’s classic play. Scott and Stephens have previously collaborated on projects like Sea Wall, Birdland, and the short film The Hope Rooms, further cementing their dynamic creative partnership. The Off-Broadway run is expected to attract both fans of Scott’s previous work and new audiences eager to experience this unique adaptation.
