Learn your Defying Gravity concert stars well! Aaron Tveit

Defying Gravity, a world premiere concert celebrating the work of acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz, will premiere at Sydney’s Theatre Royal for three performances only – on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February 2016. If you’re a fan of international musical theatre, you won’t want to miss this exciting musical event! It has a stellar line up of performers – headlined by none other than Tony Award-winning Sutton Foster and Broadway heartthrob Aaron Tveit, and features renowned West End star Joanna Ampil, Broadway and film icon Betty Buckley, and two of Australia’s own talents Helen Dallimore and David Harris.

At the concert you’ll hear Stephen Schwartz classics such as Day by Day, Colors of the Wind, When You BelievePopular, Corner of the Sky, Beautiful City, Meadowlark and, of course, Defying Gravity.

Aaron Tveit 101

Who he is:

Aaron Tveit is an American theatre, television and film star. Tveit is a well-known musical theatre name thanks to his roles as Gabe in Next to Normal and Frank Abagnale Jr in Catch Me If You Can. He has also starred in Wicked, Hairspray and Rent, on Broadway and across the US.

Tveit featured as Enjolras in the 2012 film adaption of Les Miserables. His other film credits include, Undrafted, Big Sky, Premium Rush, Howl and Ghost Town. And most recently, Tveit was seen as Danny Zuko in Fox’s Grease: Live.

Tveit starred in the TV series Graceland, as well as appearing in The Good Wife, Body of Proof, Ugly Betty and Law and Order SVU.

Awards:

In 2009, Tveit won the Helen Hayes Award and Clarence Derwent Award for his performance as Gabe in Next to Normal. He was also nominated for a Drama League Award and an Outer Critic Circle Award for his performance in Catch Me If You Can.

Fun Fact:

Tveit turned down business school scholarships to major in vocal performance at Ithaca College, before switching to musical theatre after his freshman year.
