SUMMARY:Anastasia The Musical
DESCRIPTION:The hit Broadway musical will have its Australian premiere at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in December before touring to Perth and Sydney in 2026.  \nPresented by John Frost for Crossroads Live and Opera Australia\, tickets go on pre-sale for the Sydney season to those who have signed up to the waitlist on Monday 30 June and to the general public on Friday 4 July.  \nInspired by the mysterious tale of Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov’s rumoured escape in the dawning days of the Russian Revolution\, and the 20th Century Fox animated fairytale of the same name\, ANASTASIA has been brought to life on the stage by the Tony Award-winning creative team of Terrence McNally\, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens.  \nANASTASIA is a lavish musical for all ages\, transporting audiences from the twilight years of the Imperial rule to the euphoria and exuberance of Paris in the 1920s\, as a brave young woman named Anya sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by an army officer determined to silence her\, she enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together\, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home\, love\, and family.  \nWith its opulent settings\, dazzling costumes\, and a soaring score including musical highlights from the 1997 animated hit film\, Journey to the Past and Once Upon a December\, ANASTASIA is the spectacular Broadway musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be.  \n  \n\n  \nThere have been two films telling the captivating story of Anastasia including the 1956 film with Ingrid Bergman\, Helen Hayes and Yul Brynner\, and the 1997 20th Century Fox animated film\, which featured a score by the musical’s creators\, Ahrens and Flaherty.  \nDirected by Tony Award winning director Darko Tresnjak\, ANASTASIA premiered on Broadway in March 2017 and played to sold out audiences for three years before productions in Germany\, Spain\, The Netherlands\, Brazil\, Mexico and Japan as well as two North American tours. It also received a Tony Award nomination for Best Costume Design in a Musical and won more than 15 major international awards including Best Musical awards in Germany\, the Netherlands and Spain.  \nThe book for ANASTASIA was written by the late five time Tony Award winning writer Terrence McNally\, whose credits include Love! Valour! Compassion!\, Master Class\, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Ragtime.  \nMusic and lyrics for ANASTASIA were written by the renowned writing team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens who have been referred to as “one of the greatest songwriting teams in Broadway history” (Chicago Tribune).  \nThey have received theatre\, film and music’s highest honours including the Tony Award\, Drama Desk\, Outer Critics Circle and Olivier Awards for Ragtime\, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards\, two Golden Globes and four Grammys. In 2014 they received the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement and in 2015 they were inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.  \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Come From Away
DESCRIPTION:7\,000 Stranded Passengers. One Small Town. A Remarkable True Story. \nCome from Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander\, Newfoundland\, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover\, when 38 planes\, carrying thousands of people from around the globe\, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11\, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers\, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travellers with music\, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family. \n  \n\n  \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:The Memory Mirror - World Premiere / Melbourne Season
DESCRIPTION:A new Australian play exploring memory\, trauma\, caregiving and the hidden emotional weight carried by those who spend their lives caring for others comes to Brunswick Mechanics Institute this September. \nWritten and produced by Melbourne writer Georgina Luck and directed by Drew Tingwell\, The Memory Mirror follows Daniel\, an experienced Blue Mountains paramedic who has spent a lifetime answering other people’s calls for help. As the past starts to surface\, he is forced to confront the one call he has spent years avoiding: his own. \nBlending mystery\, drama and moments of humour\, The Memory Mirror explores trauma\, memory loss\, ageing\, caregiving and the enduring power of community. Luck says the work grew from her admiration for carers and first responders\, whose lives can contain extraordinary stories of heartbreak\, resilience\, humour and compassion. \nThe production features an accomplished cast of Australian stage and screen performers including Gabriel Partington (Three Sisters)\, Don Bridges (Jack Irish)\, Margot Knight (The Dressmaker)\, Jim Daly (Utopia)\, Anthea Davis (A Room of One’s Own) and Christine Husband (Rostered On). \nPERFORMANCE DETAILS \nThe Memory Mirror — World Premiere\n8–13 September 2026\nBrunswick Mechanics Institute\n270 Sydney Road\, Brunswick \nTuesday 8 – Saturday 12 September\, 7.30pm\nSunday 13 September\, 4.00pm \nApprox. 75 minutes\, no interval \nTickets:\nFull $35\nConcession $25\nFirst Responders & Carers $20 \nBookings: Humanitix — The Memory Mirror \nOpening Night — SOLD OUT\nPublic Dress Rehearsal — SOLD OUT\nTickets available for remaining performances

SUMMARY:My Fair Lady
DESCRIPTION:Ground-breaking\, glorious and grand…\nCelebrating 70 dazzling years since its Broadway debut\, Julie Andrews’ production of Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady returns to the Sydney Opera House. \nWhen Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe premiered their brilliant adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion in 1956\, it became an instant classic — hailed as “the perfect musical” and winning six Tony Awards. \n  \n \n  \nA 20-year-old Julie Andrews was catapulted to superstardom when she originated the role of Eliza Doolittle — an irrepressible Cockney flower girl who transforms into a lady of society. The man attempting to remake her? The appealingly arrogant phoneticist Henry Higgins\, who may just be the one transformed. \nA heartwarming story of transformation and identity\, My Fair Lady brims with razor-sharp wit\, unforgettable characters\, and a glorious score including ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?’\, ‘I Could Have Danced All Night’ and ‘Get Me to the Church on Time’. \nDon’t miss this rare chance to see a sparkling gem of theatrical history\, guided by musical theatre and Hollywood royalty Julie Andrews and co-directed by Karen Johnson Mortimer. Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the best musicals of the century”. \n  \n \n
