A new Australian play exploring memory, trauma, caregiving and the hidden emotional weight carried by those who spend their lives caring for others comes to Brunswick Mechanics Institute this September.

Written and produced by Melbourne writer Georgina Luck and directed by Drew Tingwell, The Memory Mirror follows Daniel, an experienced Blue Mountains paramedic who has spent a lifetime answering other people’s calls for help. As the past starts to surface, he is forced to confront the one call he has spent years avoiding: his own.

Blending mystery, drama and moments of humour, The Memory Mirror explores trauma, memory loss, ageing, caregiving and the enduring power of community. Luck says the work grew from her admiration for carers and first responders, whose lives can contain extraordinary stories of heartbreak, resilience, humour and compassion.

The production features an accomplished cast of Australian stage and screen performers including Gabriel Partington (Three Sisters), Don Bridges (Jack Irish), Margot Knight (The Dressmaker), Jim Daly (Utopia), Anthea Davis (A Room of One’s Own) and Christine Husband (Rostered On).
