Earlier this year, I created A Music Theatre Fanboy’s Top 10 Youtube Performances. This week I thought I’d once again have my coffee at my computer desk, and show you some* of my favourite MT performers being interviewed on some of my favourite Youtube channels.*
Not only are all of these actors spectacularly talented, but they all seem like such genuine, warm and hilarious human beings, which I think is best brought out in these interviews. (I also don’t think its a coincidence that they’re so lovely, and have had such successful careers)
*Hopefully you don’t feel upset that I’ve only listed 8 this time. These videos are much longer, and I’m very aware that people probably don’t have time to watch 10 sets of 15-minutes interviews!

You get to watch her sing improvised theme songs, make chilli in her kitchen, and talk about the time she had sex in her dressing room. What’s not to love about this segment, and this perfect woman?
If you haven’t seen the filming of Roundabout Theatre Company’s She Loves Me, please go and watch it as soon as humanly possible. And as soon as you’re done, watch this interview between these two incredible performers, and see that they have just as much chemistry offstage as on.
I think Role Call, where actors answer questions about their career through their ‘post-it note CV’, is a really interesting, new take on MT interviews. There are many great ones being released at the moment, with Annaleigh Ashford’s being particularly hilarious.
This whole backstage vlog is certainly worth watching, not only because I believe she is one of the most talented performers of this generation, but because you really get to see her quirky, genuine and incredibly endearing personality. This particular episode features Jessie dramatically singing along to Sunday in the Park with George as she applies her makeup, which I bet you never thought you needed until now.
‘Obsessed’ is a very fitting title for how I feel about Liz Callaway. While she is the loveliest woman in the world, I also like that this video shows a little bit of her sass. And you get to hear her sing ‘The Story Goes On’!
You get to see Sierra’s funny, loveable charm come through in this interview. But more importantly, you get to see her speak about her mantra of self love and worth, and how she manages to maintain her incredible optimism throughout everything she does.
If you ever have time to do a Show People binge, I highly recommend it. They’re funny, interesting and often incredibly insightful about the actor’s process and wisdom. This one is here because I just really love Steven Pasquale.
