Stranger Things Star Sadie Sink To Make West End Debut In Robert Icke’s Romeo And Juliet

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink will make her West End debut next year in a new London production of Romeo and Juliet directed by Robert Icke.

The 23 year old actor, best known for playing Max Mayfield in Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things, will star as Juliet at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 16 March to 6 June 2026. She will appear opposite Noah Jupe, 20, who will play Romeo. Jupe is widely known for his performances in A Quiet Place and Honey Boy.

The production marks a return to her theatrical roots for Sink, who began her career on Broadway in the musical Annie. Earlier this year she earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in John Proctor is the Villain, firmly establishing her as a serious stage actor as well as a screen star.

“I was a Broadway kid, so I have always dreamed about doing a show in the West End,” Sink said of the announcement. “To get to do that in one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays under Rob’s direction with Noah will be such an exciting challenge. London theatre has this incredible energy, and I cannot wait to be a part of it.”

Robert Icke, who has built a reputation for bold, contemporary reinterpretations of classic texts, will bring his signature approach to Shakespeare’s tragedy of young love and family conflict. His recent Olivier award winning production of Oedipus starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville has just transferred to Broadway, further raising his international profile.

“This is one of the plays I have returned to again and again, and the opportunity to tackle it in London with two wonderful young actors is hugely exciting,” Icke said. “It is an explosive play, filled with heat and life, which confronts us with how fragile our lives are and the momentousness of every last second. I cannot wait to get started.”

Pre sale tickets for Romeo and Juliet open on Tuesday 18 November, with general sale from 10am on Wednesday 19 November via romeojulietplay.com. The limited season will run for just under three months at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Alongside her stage commitments, Sink will also return to screens in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The first four episodes will be released on 27 November, followed by three more episodes on Boxing Day and a series finale on New Year’s Day, ensuring that by the time she arrives in London as Juliet, her Netflix journey as Max will have come to an end.
