Direct from London: A Clockwork Orange set to tour Australia, 2013
Breaking News: Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange to tour Australia in 2013

It was confirmed today that Action to the Word’s acclaimed all-male live production of Anthony Burgess’s ground-breaking novel, A Clockwork Orange will tour Australia in 2013.
Direct from London’s West End (Soho Theatre) the production will arrive on Australian soil in April 2013 for a limited season at Melbourne’s Malthouse ahead of a national tour with Sydney, Perth, Canberra and Brisbane seasons already confirmed. It is understood that further cities will be announced shortly.
This production of A Clockwork Orange is a testosterone fuelled theatrical adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name, which was adapted into Stanley Kubrick’s cult film in 1971, and will feature an entirely imported UK cast.
An unapologetic, visceral exploration of humanity in a “fictional” world full of violence, corruption and redemption, A Clockwork Orange mirrors society past-and-present and the human condition through the glorious glass-edged nastiness of Manchester’s underworld.
As one of the most important fictional texts of the 20th Century, A Clockwork Orange is increasingly relevant in the world today. Simultaneously warning of the dangers of having our independence robbed and optimistically suggesting that humans, given the chance have the choice to divert to goodness and a path of redemption.
The ensemble, lead by actor Martin McCreadie (as Alex), treats the ultraviolent and highly sexual text in an entirely new and exciting fashion.
Alexandra Spencer-Jones, Artistic Director of Action to the World says “In the wake of the London riots, A Clockwork Orange has a new power of its own, asking once again, ‘Is it better to be forced to be good or better to choose to be bad?’”
